Brett Heimov currently represents clients in the health care, transportation, education and financial services industries.
Recently, Mr. Heimov successfully worked with the House and Senate Judiciary Committees to craft a bill to provide health care and compensation for 9/11 First Responders. The bill was signed by the President in January of 2011. He was also successful in shepherding a bill through Congress to provide recourse in the courts for publishers and authors who are sued for libel overseas for works published in the United States. Unlike in the United States, the truth is not a defense against libel in many overseas courts. The bill was signed into law by President Obama on August 10, 2010.
Along with his work on behalf of corporations, non-profits and other organizations throughout the country, he leads WSW’s efforts for New York based clients and for those clients wishing to do business with the New York Delegation in Congress.
Mr. Heimov joined the private sector after 12 years on Capitol Hill, working his way from Staff Assistant to Legislative Assistant, Legislative Director and finally Washington Chief of Staff for Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). During his tenure on Capitol Hill, Mr. Heimov was responsible for handling transportation, financial services, education, environment, foreign affairs and energy issues for the Congressman. As the Washington Chief of Staff he directed the Member’s political and legislative agenda in Washington. Prior to joining WSW, Mr. Heimov worked for three years at Dutko Worldwide, a Washington Government Relations and Public Strategies firm where he worked with corporations, trade associations and non-profits to further their legislative and regulatory goals.
Mr. Heimov earned his B.A. in Political Science from Adelphi University and currently serves as the Washington, DC Chapter President of the University’s alumni association and on the Advisory Board for Global Kids. He is also a Member of Vistage and First Degree, both of which are professional development associations.
