Alex DelPizzo is a leader in the healthcare practice at WSW. Recently, Alex successfully worked on behalf of a number of pharmaceutical, small and large bio-tech and medical device companies as part of the recently enacted healthcare reform law. Alex is also expert on the implementation of Medicare Part D as well as the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act.  On these fronts, he has worked both with industry and patient groups in their efforts to shape federal healthcare policy.

In addition to healthcare, Alex runs lead in the financial services practice at WSW. Recently, Alex worked on behalf of a number of issues in the Wall Street Reform Act. In addition, Alex has effectively coordinated and advised a national insurance association on all of its federal affairs activities in Washington, including lobbying the Administration, and both the House and Senate; organizing grassroots support for its federal initiatives; and spearheading the creation and management of its federal PAC.

Telecommunications and technology issue lobbying also falls under Alex’s care. Specifically, he worked on the COPE Act, which passed the House in the summer of 2006, and the Telecommunications Reform Act, which is pending before the U.S. Senate. Alex has been active on VoIP, cable franchising and spectrum issues, among others.

History

Alex spent six years working in policy positions in the House of Representatives, including serving as the Legislative Director to a Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. In that role, he became an expert in policy regarding healthcare, energy, telecommunications and transportation. Alex worked directly on the passage of the Medicare Modernization Act.

He also served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Aviation Subcommittee, managing highway and transit issues and working on the passage of the AIR-21 legislation.

Alex’s B.A. in Political Science is from Villanova University, where he earned a Varsity letter on the tennis team.
