We’re a leading, full-service, federal government relations firm that’s both independent and bipartisan.
Every organization deserves to have its voice heard in Washington, whether it’s to obtain funding, shape current or pending legislation, or simply build relationships that can facilitate the growth or viability of your entity.
Unfortunately, doing this on your own requires a substantial commitment of your time, energy, and resources, and pulls your focus away from the daily operations of your organization. Additionally, unless you have considerable experience in policy or funding matters, solid Congressional relationships, and a deep understanding of the processes involved, your efforts likely won’t match the results generated by a lobbying firm.
Excellent question. WSW has extensive experience in developing, implementing, and managing successful government-relations strategies for all sizes and types of organizations.
Beyond that, though, we’re different from most lobbying firms, both in our approach to business and our clients. While our knowledge, relationships, thoroughness, and dedication have enabled us to compile a superior track record in Washington, our client-first commitment and direct style provide a refreshing change from many other government relations firms.
We won’t apply generic, off-the-shelf solutions to your complex problems. We won’t overlook the importance of educating you so you can make well-informed decisions, nor will we waste a considerable amount of your time and money, and then tell you we can’t help you.
We offer a complete suite of services that include direct lobbying for legislative and funding initiatives, as well as federal grants and contracts and other client services. WSW can represent your organization in Washington on a full-time basis – providing support equal to an “in-house” team without the associated costs – or simply assist on a project-by-project basis.
Just about any type of entity that needs representation in Washington, including corporations, institutions of higher education, non-profits, local and county governments, trade associations, foundations, coalitions, medical centers, hospitals, and research institutions.
Yes. But, we specialize in helping organizations with roots in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Yes. Actually, a large part of our business is serving as the external lobbying team of organizations that have significant Washington operations to supplement their efforts.
Yes. We often team with other firms on behalf of clients with complex issues that require expertise in a number of specific areas. WSW also assembles teams as needed for our clients if their needs change, or perhaps when dealing with particularly urgent matters. In short, we take whatever action is required to best serve our clients and work well as part of a team.
After you express an interest in partnering with WSW, we’ll conduct an evaluation of your needs, and present a comprehensive plan that addresses your objectives. Depending on the specifics of your situation, we’ll identify key issues, legislation, agencies, and officials relevant to your circumstances, and provide an honest, open assessment of the path to achieve your goals.
Should you decide to proceed, we’ll implement your strategy, proactively monitor and manage it, and follow through until its conclusion.
Unlike the practice at many other firms, you’ll work with the same senior team members you meet with initially. These members – along with your team manager – are selected based on how their specific areas of expertise relate to your needs. However, all principals at WSW are available to support your agenda, and may be called upon as needed. We’ve found this approach yields the best results for our clients and fits in well with our client-driven philosophy.
Instead of offering a set fee structure, we offer one that’s flexible and scalable, and will match your needs. We generally work with a monthly retainer fee that’s based upon a 12-month contract, renewable annually. However, if you just need us for a short-term initiative, we can provide a project-based or a month-to-month fee.
We’ll arrange an agreement that’s fair for the situation, and works for both of us. And, you’ll always have the reassurance of knowing what to expect upfront – and not have to worry about being dinged for every phone call or photocopy.
